Stuck, or got a question the app does not answer? Get in touch. There is one person behind Timeout, and he is the one who answers.

How to get help

Please say which iPhone and Apple Watch you have, and which versions of iOS and watchOS they are running. That saves a round trip. Do not send health information by email — we do not need it to help you.

Timeout is a tool for self-regulation, not health care. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services. In Norway: 116 117 for urgent medical help, 113 for emergencies, and 116 123 for the Mental Helse helpline, around the clock.

Common questions

Do I need an Apple Watch?

Yes, for the heart rate. It is the watch that notices your pulse rising, and that taps your wrist before the window closes. You can try the app on iPhone alone to see how it looks and works, but without a watch you will not get the alert.

Why is there an orange dot?

That is iOS showing that the microphone is in use. Timeout recognises body sounds such as breathing and tone of voice while it is on. No audio is stored, no text is made from what is said, and nothing leaves the device. There is more about this in the privacy policy.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In the settings for your Apple ID: open Settings, tap your name at the top, choose Subscriptions, select Timeout and tap Cancel Subscription. If you cancel, the subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and does not renew. Apple handles the subscription, so we cannot cancel it for you.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: Settings → Data → Delete all. That removes the episodes, the feelings and the model learned from them. It cannot be undone, and we hold no copy, because nothing was ever sent to us. If you delete the app itself, everything goes with it.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Everything happens on the device. Measuring, recognising, learning and alerting work just as well in airplane mode as on a full connection.

What if the alert gets it wrong?

Tap Miss. The model then learns that this was not flooding for you, and it gets closer next time. The misses are as useful as the hits, so it is worth answering every time.
